All of us here at RER are excited to offer the most outdoor oriented, active, adventurous Day Camp this side of the Majestic Sierra Nevada’s! Your child will come home tired each day of camp and still be ready and excited for the next.
All Camp Sessions run from Monday to Thursday 8am – 3pm. Please drop off your child between 7:50-8am (no earlier) and pick up between 2:55-3:10. We are huge fans of the carpool system . (see “permission to pick-up form” below)
Drop off and pick up location will be at the River’s End Rafting Center. A map will be sent as part of the Parents Information Guide.
If demand is high we can include a drop off/pick up location down town for a small fee. Please express your interest in this offer on your registration form.
These camps are designed for children from ages 8-13. If you have a child who has their 8th birthday near the camp dates and you think this would be good for them, please contact us to discuss. We try and accommodate everyone we can.
The goal for these camps is to keep your child active and outdoors. They will participate in a range of activities that RER offers. We are very excited about all the activities we have included in this seasons line-up. We also have a sample itinerary below that you can look at to get a feel for what your child will have the opportunity to experience during the RER Adventure Day Camp. Activities we offer this season include REAL gold panning, rock wall climbing, fishing, hiking, biking, intro to kayaking, rafting, and a field trip to CALM Zoo. We will also be playing many team building games and providing outdoor educational experiences. Click here for sample itinerary
We are getting a big response and interest in certain weeks and at certain age groups so we have created five session to allow for more campers while still keeping our overall numbers low. We like a low camper to staff ratio of 5:1. At the start of the week the camp groups will be split in half by age to create two groups, a younger and an older group.
There are 20 spaces available for each session of camp. This will make 2 groups of approximately 10 with a minimum of 2 staff per group. Some activities will have more staff on-site.
The camp staff is made up of RER Camp Counselors and Guides. Each has been hired based on their experience with youth and outdoor activities. They go through training throughout the spring and summer to prepare them for their time at the camps. We focus on hiring individuals who plan to work with children in the future. Each year some staff stay while others move on to other pursuits. We intentionally hire some new staff each summer to keep a fresh perspective.
The camp staff is overseen each summer by a camp supervisor who is a returning staff member. This year that will be Sara Perales. The entire camp staff is overseen by the professional staff who oversee RER Adventure Camps day to day operations. Your Camp Director this season is Darron Nilsson. Darron is the President of River’s End Rafting, a loving husband, a father of four, and a true outdoor enthusiast. For details on our Camp Director please visit: Facebook LinkedIn
